Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. WORKSHOP/PRODUCTION AREA: The guard, installed for the lower portion of the auger of the Olive Pitting Machine did not prevent entry of hand(s) or fingers into the rotating augur by reaching through, over, under or around the guard. On/or about September 05, 2017, an employee was able to put a hand into shoot while sweeping the floor, and the employee's hand got caught on the rotating augur of the machine. The incident resulted a finger amputations to the right hand.
