29 CFR 1910.36(b)(1): At least two exit routes were not available to permit prompt evacuation of employees during an emergency: Basement Level: On, or about, October 16, 2023, a sufficient number of exits had not been provided from the work area. A Datron CNC machine was located at the lower landing of the interior stairs that used Reagent Alcohol 200 proof, a Category 2 flammable liquid with a flashpoint of 33.2�, F, as coolant. Dye was coated onto wooden parts at a dip coating workstation and the parts were air dried in the workspace. The Dye used was Dye #37, a Category 2 flammable liquid with a flashpoint of -4�, F. At the time of the inspection, a single means of egress from the workspace was provided using an interior staircase to the street level of the building. In accordance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 101, Life Safety Code, two means of egress are required from the basement level due to the size of the work area and presence of high hazard contents and processes involving the use of flammable liquids. Abatement Note: The overhead door provided on the exterior wall does not meet the requirements of an exit door per 29 CFR 1910.36(e). |
