The employees machine and hand sand copper alloys containing beryllium and nickel. The beryllium can cause chronic beryllium disease and cancer. The nickel is a skin sensitizer and may cause respiratory effects with chronic exposure. The welder welds stainless steel and has not been trained in the hazards of hexavalent chromium. Hexavalent chromium can cause cancer and irritation to the nose, throat and respiratory tract.
